Going away? Prep your Wisewell in five minutes.

A few minutes before you leave and a few when you're back keeps your water fresh and your machine running well for longer.

  • Before you leave

    • Dispense and discard any water left in the device.
    • If your model has a removable tank, empty it.
    • Empty and clean the drip tray, and wipe the tap and nozzle area.
    • Switch the device off. If it's plumbed in, close the water inlet valve.
    • Bubble owners: disconnect the CO₂ canister and close the lid.
    • Don't leave cups, bottles, or containers sitting on the device.
  • When you're back

    • Reconnect the power and open the water inlet valve.
    • If your device has a removable tank, fill it with fresh water.
    • The first water out is not for drinking. Flush and discard 3 to 5 times, until it tastes and smells normal.
    • If your device is connected to the app, run the cleaning cycle.
    • Bubble owners: reconnect the CO₂ canister and pour a first sparkling glass before drinking.
    • If the taste or smell doesn't improve after flushing, or your filter is overdue, replace the filter.

Why can't I drink the first water after a trip?

Water that sat in the lines while you were away can taste flat or stale. Flushing 3 to 5 times clears it so what you drink is fresh.

How many times should I flush?

3 to 5 times, or until the water tastes, smells, and looks normal.

Do I need to replace my filter after a holiday?

Only if you were away longer than a month, or the filter was already due. The timing depends on your model (see above).

What do Bubble owners do differently?

Disconnect the CO₂ canister and close its lid before leaving. Reconnect it after flushing when you're back, and pour a first sparkling glass before drinking.

Still Tastes OFF?

If the water has an unusual taste, smell, or colour after flushing, stop using the device and contact Customer Care. We'd rather check it than have you guess.
